Lights out last night at 21h30 then wind and tent flapping woke me up at 23h30 and from then I must have got two hours sleep. It wasn’t a good idea pitching the tent on a cement slab as we couldn’t peg the fly sheet down ??. The alarm went off at six but eventually got up 30 minutes later. All packed up, oats was with chocolate flavoured milk, a nice change. We should have brought our sleeping bags into the clinic last night as it was cosy inside this morning while having our breakfast. We’ve had a left cross wind coming from 8 pm for about 20 km and have stopped for a sandwich of fig jam and peanut butter, yummy. Still freezing so wearing both windbreakers and our buffs pulled half way over our heads, covering ears.
Arrived in Omaruru just after midday … checked out the Omaruru Rest Camp N$120 pp then looked at River Guest House, N$40 more for camping. This place gets good write ups on iOverlander but we didn’t see the river, the sites weren’t on grass and the owner abrupt and unfriendly so opted for Omaruru Rest Camp. Did some shopping at Spar, lunched, shared a chocolate coated pig’s ear, pitched tent then vegged and snoozed on loungers at the pool. Our banquet for tonight was sausage, potato salad with chopped onion and egg and while watching a Bones episode on the laptop we’ll share a 1kg tub of yoghurt for dessert. Decided to have the other choc coated pig’s ear some time tomorrow during our ride … eating it tonight would just be ‘pigging out’ ???? xx
– Kalkfeld Clinic where we camped last night. The tent was pitched on the cement walkway on the right side of the building
– Never ending straight roads, this one with a mini Ayers Rock on the right
– Our lovely campsite today at Omaruru Rest Camp and swimming pool
– Pretty spring flowers on a type of cactus plant
– A Springbok grazing just outside the campsite
