Staying with Dennis+Jane McDonald, Auas Hills Retirement Village, Windhoek
Distance 11844
Total from Amsterdam 17244
Another lazy day. Dennis and Jane dropped us off at the German craft market in Klein Windhoek and we met Lothar, Nesi and their friends, Helmuth and Doris for breakfast. They were travelling together in Tanzania when we met them many moons ago. Once back at the McDonald’s home we spent a few hours chilling before heading off in Dennis’ fancy Landcruiser to have a look at where he spent the first 11 years of his life before the family sold the farm. It was sad to see the rundown gabled home and the property looks uninhabited.
We then headed to Andy’s pub in downtown Windhoek where we found perfect seats to watch the SA NZ rugby match. A fantastic game with the Boks leading throughout the match, finally losing to the Kiwis 32-30 in the final 60 seconds of the match. They do, however, deserve to be complimented on the way they played … committed, holding the ball in play and passionate about beating the ABs. I’m sure all South Africans feel that there is hope for the Boks with Rassie Erasmus now coaching the team. Supper was yummy pizzas and we are now all watching The Orient Express on TV. Have nothing else exciting to tell you folks, so cheerio for today!
