Sat 17 Nov 2018, Day 349
Camping at Forever Resorts, Plettenberg Bay
Distance 14575
Total distance from Amsterdam 19975
It rained most of the night, bikes got a good wash and hopefully the gardens in Plett got watered. It was freezing this morning and my layers consisted of icebreaker t-shirt and long sleeve top, neon as well a pale blue jackets, socks and two buffs. We had bacon and egg rolls delivered by Mr and Mrs Delivery, aka Renton and Irene, all the way from the Beacon Isle Hotel, thanks guys, they were great.
Peter decided we all needed coffee so we piled into Renton’s BMW and headed to Mugg and Bean for coffee and hot chocolate. Got some chicken and a few ingredients to make Bev’s Indian Curry recipe for supper. Peter has decided not to have split distances any longer … one from Cairo, the other from Amsterdam so from today we’ll have one total distance from Amsterdam. We are hearing and seeing many Knysna Loerie birds and there are some naughty monkeys who try to raid and pinch peoples foods left unattended.
Beulah and Gert who are camping two sites to our right gave us towels to use while we’re here as well as a wash bucket, washing powder, softener, homemade cookies and rusks. Fellow camper Steve has lent us his gas bottle and cooker top to use for tonight’s supper and his wife, Alida gave us chutney for our Indian curry. They’ve also had beer, lemonade and yoghurt in their fridge for us. We got baby potatoes and tumeric from Jill and Peter, two caravans away to our left. And finally, Pav, Bev’s daughter in law, dropped off our spare MSR fuel bottle from Knysna.
We have been blown away, once again, with the generosity of all these fellow South Africans. Thank you. We met Andre, a fellow touring cyclist from the town of Swellendam in SA who isn’t as lucky as Peter … his wife isn’t interested in joining him. There are quite a few people watching rugby .. may the good guys win. Cheers for today xx
